You are the best person to know your breasts. Hone You are the best person to know your breasts.
Honestly, how often do you lovingly touch them ( in an intimate non-sexual way)
A self breast examination is a lovely way to connect with these most sacred and nourishing/nurturing part of us, and they are conveniently located within our heart centre.
When I start my breast connection exercise, I stand topless in front of the mirror.
I turn my gaze to my breasts, noticing the skin. Is there any dimpling? Does the texture of my breasts look different? Have my nipples changed? My outties become innies? Any flaky skin?
I lean forward and look at my breasts, noting they move freely and are not ‘stuck’ or any shape changes.
I then move my arms out to the side and above my head.
Is there any tethering any puckering?
I touch my nipples and gently squeeze, noting what it feels like? Was there any discharge?
Then I jump in the shower and soap up, and using the pads of my fingertips, I start at the nipple and spiral out.
Sometimes, I lay in bed and connect to my breasts with an arm above my head.
A self examination is best undertaken a day or so after your period when the tissue is less likely to be under hormonal influence, which may cause little cysts/lumps ( you know, the tender breasts before your period ?) and needs to include the area under your armpit where the tail of your breast is located.

I have fibrocystic breasts and a fibroadenoma- so it’s sometimes tricky for me to do a breast examination noting new breast lumps.
When I found my fibroadenoma, I was suitably freaked out as mum had cancer, and I knew people with breast cancer.
I had a biopsy, and thankfully it was benign.
I’m had my breast imaging this morning, it was bit overdue due to the last couple of years, but all good with no changes. Your breast tissue never stays the same; the tissue density can change as you go through your life seasons.
So lovingly and regularly connect to your breasts, your place of deep nurturing, and if you have any concerns, please see your doctor for a review.
Here is to connection & BREAST LOVE

This HNY story hit me. All of my adult life, I hav This HNY story hit me. All of my adult life, I have been working in education, helping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander TAFE and university students. Heck, I even ran a homework centre.
Racism in education is real.
I helped one of my high school tutoring students write a creative story. We explored what he wanted to write, allowed his imagination to flow, and wrote a good story within the word limit …. And he failed. He shrugged his shoulders like that was the expectation, but I got wild because this was racism.
He tried and was engaged with the process, and after this mark, when we both were proud of what he had achieved leading up to it, I watched him start to shut down
. And then I had to tell his parents what I thought was happening, and again, it was the hurt and the expectation that this would happen.
It was fucked. It hurt my heart.
Another time I worked with a mature aged student at university, and we did a bit of English comprehension together. He looked at me and said, ‘Danielle, I have learnt more here in the session than I ever learnt at school; they didn’t care about me in the classroom, just what I could do on the footy field.’
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experience racism in the education system; when the colonisers came, they viewed the original peoples of this land as less than. As not really human.
As primitive with no complex kinship systems, no symbiotic relationships to the Earth, no medical systems, and no ingenuity backed up with 60 000 years of Indigenous knowledge systems. They had their languages and culture stolen and had to conform.

In this HNY story, some of the judges in the debating team said Johnathon had an unfair advantage as he was using his personal story. While teaching my TAFE communications class, during a speech, one of the students spoke of how he was tied to the chair and held at gunpoint by his stepfather, but this wasn’t shocking to the audience, as they were In a First Nations class.( cont in comments)

I woke up this morning despondent It is horrific. I woke up this morning despondent
It is horrific.
Honestly.
How can a Supreme Court purport to know more about women and birthing people? To know how to truly uphold the values and rights of a family.
Roe vs Wade was something I learnt about in medical school.
We were taught if we have personal, ethical or religious reasons to be against abortion - if someone saw us seeking it - rather than pass judgement or give our options we MUST refer to a colleague who would offer support.
Do no harm.

On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court announced its decision in Roe v. Wade, a challenge to a Texas statute that made it a crime to perform an abortion unless a woman’s life was at stake. The case
had been filed by “Jane Roe,” an unmarried woman who wanted to safely and legally end her pregnancy. Siding with Roe, the court struck down the Texas law. In its ruling, the court recognized for the first time that the constitutional right to privacy “is broad enough to encompass a woman’s decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy” (Roe v. Wade, 1973).
Roe has come to be known as the case that legalized abortion nationwide. At the time the decision was handed down, nearly all states outlawed abortion except to save a woman’s life or for limited reasons such as preserving the woman’s health, or instances of rape, incest, or fetal anomaly. Roe rendered these laws unconstitutional, making abortion services vastly safer and more accessible to women throughout the country. The decision also set a legal precedent that affected more than 30 subsequent Supreme Court cases involving restrictions on access to abortion. ( planned parenthood America) Further In Roe, the Supreme Court found that a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her pregnancy deserves the highest level of constitutional protection. The court also recognized that the right to privacy is not absolute and that a state has valid interests in safeguarding maternal health and protecting potential life.

This honouring of a birthing person & child’s rights is evident in Indigenous knowledge worldwide.
Every child has rights and this forced continuation of pregnancy undermines this.... cont in comments
