Hands up if you have been guilty of saying I haven Hands up if you have been guilty of saying I haven’t really done anything today ? And we feel bad about it.
Self care is something we take for granted and it’s totally ok to rest and do nothing ( belly button gazing or cloud watching ) or catching up on your tik tok dance moves (you’ve seen my brilliance in action hahah)
BUT here’s the trick.
What happens if we have ‘done stuff’ but for whatever reason, don’t value it as being important or ‘doing something.’

I was chatting to @dr.jessicawade and she was like ‘I thought you just said you have done nothing today but you have just outlined this amazing cultural birthing/breastfeeding course that is going to revolutionise health’
Oh yer.
That was me.
Why do we undersell our achievements, our visions, our goals.
Why do we undersell the hidden background work.
The planning , the contemplation, the brainstorming.
The being brave when adulting when you just wanna hide.
The cooking for a family, the tending and care of children or a loved one.
The caring of pets, keeping plants alive.
Caring for the Earth, picking up rubbish, saving a spider.
Do we ever not do anything ?
I mean even on a physiological level- if you are laying on the couch watching tv, eating chips you are doing something. Not only are
Supporting an industry of actors and film/tv crews, farmers and supply chain transporters BUT
Your heart ❤️ is pumping, your lungs expanding, your bones remodelling, your cells repairing themselves, your ovaries are transforming daily, your uterus lining growing daily.
🌙🌙🌙🌙
Do we have to feel busy to be doing something?
Do we have to be up against it feel like we are to be rewarded for working hard?
My course flowed through me like butter on a hot scone. In the early hours of the morning, she called me like a siren and once pen was to paper she flowed out of me.
Gifted to me.
It’s big and important work, the only of its kind in Australia -possibly the world.
And still I said I did nothing.
So I have caught myself and reframed I have done something today.
I also went to CrossFit and nearly climbed a rope. Was the fact I NEARLY did it = doing nothing?
My legs tell me I did something! Xx
More on the developing newborn microbiome. Are fur More on the developing newborn microbiome.
Are furry pets the new probiotic?
Why yes they are!
Research has shown that pets - especially dogs cause more gut bacteria diversity leading to better health outcomes.
These positive outcomes are noted during the antenatal period and for the newborn.

Early-life exposure to household pets has the capacity to reduce risk for overweight and allergic disease and asthma, cardiometabolic disease especially following caesarean delivery.

‘Despite rapid microbial colonization of the gut after birth, environmental microbes in the antenatal and/or early postnatal period represent a critical exposure for early-life immune programming that may have long-term consequences. A pooled analysis of 7000 households documented that dog ownership during the first 2 years of life reduced sensitization to allergens in early childhood.’

‘With increasing ownership of pets in our modern lifestyle and reports of their beneficial effects, the question of pet ownership is becoming a common one for pregnant women. Our findings highlighted the differential impact of pet exposure on infant gut microbiota following variant birth scenarios...In addition, our finding of reduced streptococcal colonization with prenatal pet ownership may lower the risk for childhood metabolic and atopic (eczema, asthma and hay fever)disease.

Well I’ll be tricked this came up in my memories Well I’ll be tricked this came up in my memories and I was just talking about medicus to a past student this week. 2 years since Medicus launched!!!
I worked with some amazing people from all parts of medicine and health.
It was a crazy synergistic time of deep soul magick, medicine and remembering.
We worked with our patron Goddesses and Gods, we danced with elementals and were guided to altars where our magick was heighten and activated.
(Inter pontem =the bridge in between )
No wonder I have started to feel the cauldron stirring for Medicus- my virtual online magickal course for the hidden healers in health.
The witches on the wards,
The healers working the systems from the inside out.
The last couple of years have been exhausting for healers working in the health systems.
We need magick and healing more then ever. We need healing ourselves.
I feel she will launch again in a November this year.
Medicus will be open to anyone who works in health.
I shall wait for guidance for the start date, and if any of you have asked to be put on the Medicus list we will be in contact.
I’m smiling remembering all my amazing Medicus students and our 1:1 calls. The group calls were unbelievable! @dr.jessicawade remember !!
I’m smiling so much remembering them haha

Wow. A big work day is done! Did you know in one Wow. A big work day is done!
Did you know in one of my jobs, I work in medical education, am a cultural AND medical educator and run an Indigenous Health training team?
I am passionate about the work I do, as I am helping to educate the new generation of General Practitioners at a national level to understand the complexities of colonisation and inter-generational trauma on the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
This week I fly to Darwin to co-facilitate a workshop for GP supervisors. Next week I head out west to Dalby and Toowoomba to check in with some cultural mentors ( who provide Cultural guidance to GPs in training at their practices.)
In between this I’m supposed to be studying and catching up on my enrolled course AND meeting with my doula client for an interactive birth prep extravaganza!!
That’s the way I’m rolling lately..
